Reverend Troy D. Scroggins
Pastor of Hope Lutheran Church
Pastor Troy D. Scroggins of Borger, Texas, was born in 1963 in Cisco, Texas. Pastor Scroggins has a twin brother, Jimmy, and two younger brothers, David and Clint. His parents, Jim and Diane Scroggins, have been married over 45 years.
He has worked off and on for his father at Jim’s Bearings and Supply in Borger, Texas, for about 20 years. He was also the Deputy for Hutchinson County’s Sheriff’s Office, a Police Officer for the City of Borger, and Police Officer/Investigator for the City of Sunray.
Pastor Scroggins graduated junior college from Frank Phillips College in May of 1985 with his Associates Degree. In September of 1997, he began studying for the ministry at Concordia University at Austin in Austin, Texas, and graduated in May of 2001 with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts. In June of 2001, he entered Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana. During his studies, he did a summer Vicarage at St. John Lutheran Church in Hooker, Oklahoma. His Vicarage at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Worth, Texas, was from June of 2004 through June of 2005. He also did a Vicarage at St. John Lutheran Church in Libby, Montana, from December of 2005 through December of 2006. After graduating in May of 2007 with his Master of Divinity, Pastor Scroggins received his first call in April and on July 8, 2007, he was ordained and installed at Hope Lutheran Church in Topeka, Kansas.
In January of 2008, Pastor Scroggins started volunteering as a Chaplain with the Topeka Police Department. With Pastor Scroggins, there are currently a total of ten chaplains in the Chaplaincy Program.
